Who watches the Watchmen?

Werit does!

I finally got to see the Watchmen today. As usual I am behind the times. I never read the comics or even heard of the series before the movie came out. So I may be ignorant, likely am. Overall I thought it was a decent movie. Good action and an interesting story. A couple of things did bother me though.

One, I don't like invincible characters. Superman, Dr. Manhattan, whoever. Superman did at least have a real weakness. But they tend to ruin the story for me. Just like in the Lord of the Rings movies with the undead army. They swept in and killed everything making everything else pointless, what the hell?

They also killed off the interesting characters and left us with the lame ones. That is totally subjective of course. I won't spoil who lived, but I'm sure you'll be able to guess at the lame characters that will live.

I'd recommend reading the graphic novel mate :)

I'm sure the book helps, but it wasn't a prerequisite for watching the movie. So all I really have to go on is the movie :)

The graphic novel has made it into tsome top 100 books list.

The film should have stuck to the 1980's ending but as that would involve the viewer having a grasp of history they shied away from it.

The grapgic novel also has a superior portrait of Dr Manhatan.

The novel was one of the most boring things ive ever read, halfway thru it I wanted to put it down it was so boring.

I figured im halfwya thru, might as well get thru the rest of it, needless to say it was a waste of 10 bucks.

Aww man, you HAVE to read the Graphic Novel. It is much better than the film.

Just watched it last night. I'm not a fan of it either.

I think it had a lot of potential. But the combination of the super character and who they killed off/left alive just left a sour taste in my mouth.

Dr. Manhattan's weakness was his devotion to logic and his naivity. His desire to help mankind blinded him to being used.

The graphic novel can be a bit dull in points. I wonder how it would've been if it were a book instead of being released in the comic medium.

Overall I thought it was a well done film.

I read the graphic novel right before the movie came out with hopes that I would get a chance to see it in the theaters, but after reading the story, I just didn't feel as motivated as I thought I would to see it in the theater.

However, that being said, on a lark, I picked up the Blu ray, but not had the chance to watch it.

One day I hope I will.
