Are you tired killing that same old monster over and over again? Do you want to take out your frustrations on others? Have an urge to yell WAAAGH? If you do, now may be a good time to give WAR a chance. There are a number of reasons why.
Patch 1.3.2 has arrived and brought with it a number of improvements. Performance is better than ever. Battles with hundreds of combatants are very playable. Along with it, the game looks much better. Crowd control has been brought ... under control. The new stagger effect places an emphasis on tactics instead of spamming.
The war now bypasses the fortresses. This means you will have more shots at progressing your items through the city fights. So far it really adds more variety into your playtime. On the downside, it seems city sieges are occurring a bit too frequently on some servers.
This weekend (October 23rd) the latest Live Event starts, Daemon Moon Rising. It includes a lot of Halloween viole... fun. There is a unique PQ called Daemonball Rally, which puts you in direct competition with your enemies. Defeat them and you win the spoils.
What would Halloween be without masks? During the event you can collect masks form possessed npc's and turn them in for a special Event mask. This mask can come with any one of a number of special powers. The High Pass Cemetery scenario will also be open to all tiers during the event.
Let's not forget about the treats. From your enemies, you can collect the mask rewards from last years Halloween event. The normal Event rewards include bonus Damage/healing/XP/renown, and 2 special masks for your event slot.
That's not all! There is a special talisman drop which can be used in crafting. There is also a boss, Bloodthirster of the Chaos Wastes, to defeat.
That is just a few things going on with WAR this week. While the game is certainly not perfect, there is a lot of fun to be had. If you are new to WAR, it is a good time to check out the Free Trial.
