Alliance Points are the PvP currency in Elder Scrolls Online. Hmm, that doesn't sound right, but I guess it makes sense. In WAR you gained Renown for doing PvP stuff, in ESO you get Alliance Points. The major difference is that you spend Alliance Points.
You gain Alliance Points by killing other players, capturing objectives, completing quests, and defending objectives. I've received the most AP's by killing other players and defending keeps. For the latter there seems to be defense ticks that occur every so often. I've seen this reach 1,000+ AP, so defending can certainly be worthwhile.
